The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and versatility. Whether you’re drizzling it over a warm brownie or mixing it into your coffee, this caramel sauce adds a touch of luxury to any treat. Its golden hue and creamy texture are not just a feast for the taste buds but also for the eyes, making it a perfect addition to your dessert presentations.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
- Heat sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula.
- Sugar will form clumps and eventually melt into a thick brown, amber-colored liquid as you continue to stir. Be careful not to burn.
- Once sugar is completely melted, immediately add the butter. Be cautious as the caramel will bubble rapidly when the butter is added.
- Stir the butter into the caramel until it is completely melted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Slowly drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring. The mixture will rapidly bubble and/or splatter when added.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute. It will rise in the pan as it boils.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Allow cooling before using.
