This Pico de Gallo is the ultimate fresh and zesty salsa, packed with the vibrant flavors of juicy tomatoes, crisp red onion, spicy jalapeños, and refreshing cilantro. The addition of fresh lime juice brings a tangy kick that elevates every bite.

  1. Ingredients:
  • 4 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers, deseeded and finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey (for sweetness, if desired)

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, jalapeños, and minced garlic.
  2. Add the chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding more lime juice, salt, or pepper as necessary. If you prefer a slightly sweeter salsa, stir in a teaspoon of honey.
  4. Let the pico de gallo sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavours to meld together before serving.
  5. Serve fresh with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, or any dish that needs a zesty topping!
