This Better Than Anything Toffee is a mouthwatering, irresistible treat that combines the perfect blend of buttery, crunchy, and chocolaty goodness. The toffee layer crisps up beautifully, and the chocolate melts into a luscious, smooth finish, making each bite a delightful experience. The addition of chopped nuts adds crunch and flavor, while the sea salt brings a balance to the sweetness.
- Ingredients:
- 1 sleeve (about 15) of graham crackers
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Sea salt, for garnish
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with aluminum foil and lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Arrange the graham crackers in a single layer at the bottom of the prepared dish, breaking them as needed to fit.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the graham crackers, spreading it out with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the toffee is bubbly and the graham crackers have slightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee. Let the chocolate soften for 2-3 minutes, then spread it evenly over the surface.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts (if using) on top and finish with a light sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
- Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up before cutting into squares.
