Cheesy Rotel Dogs are a fun and flavorful twist on the classic hot dog. The combination of creamy, melted cheddar and cream cheese with the spicy RoTel tomatoes creates a deliciously cheesy topping that pairs perfectly with a hot, grilled sausage. The green chilies in the RoTel add just the right amount of heat, while the rich cheese sauce makes each bite extra indulgent.
Ingredients:
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 beef hot dogs
- 1 can (10 oz) Ro*Tel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Preheat the grill or stovetop pan to medium heat. Grill the hot dogs until heated through and lightly browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- While the hot dogs cook, prepare the cheesy Rotel topping. In a medium saucepan, combine the Ro*Tel, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Season the cheesy sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the hot dogs are done, place each hot dog in a bun.
- Spoon the cheesy Rotel mixture generously over each hot dog. Top with chopped green onions if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
