With layers of tender potatoes, creamy sauce, and a golden, cheesy top, every bite is filled with comfort. The garlic flavor adds depth, while the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses melt together to create a rich and flavorful experience.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  3. Add the heavy cream, milk, salt, and pepper to the saucepan, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat.
  4. Layer the sliced potatoes evenly in the prepared baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Repeat with another layer of potatoes, the remaining cream mixture, and the remaining cheese.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  9. Sprinkle with paprika for garnish, if desired. Serve warm.
