This Orange Dreamsicle Cake brings a refreshing burst of citrus in every bite, making it the perfect treat to celebrate any occasion. The light and fluffy cake, complemented by the rich, whipped cream frosting, offers the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavours.
- Ingredients:
- 1 box of vanilla cake mix
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons orange zest (for topping)
- 1/2 cup fresh orange segments (for garnish)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the vanilla cake mix, orange juice, orange zest, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer on medium speed to combine until smooth.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once the cake has cooled, frost it generously with the whipped cream mixture.
- Garnish with fresh orange zest and orange segments.
