Chicken Francese is a classic Italian-American dish that combines crispy, tender chicken with a vibrant, tangy lemon and white wine sauce. The rich garlic butter sauce infuses the chicken with a depth of flavour, making it a deliciously comforting meal.
- Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece of chicken in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip in the beaten eggs, coating well.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the white wine, chicken broth, lemon zest, and lemon juice to the pan, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes, reducing slightly.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the flavours to meld together.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
