Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a vibrant and delicious dish that combines tender chicken with crispy vegetables in a savory sauce. The combination of soy sauce, hoisin, and rice vinegar adds a perfect balance of salty, sweet, and tangy flavors, while the chili garlic sauce gives it a subtle kick, making it a flavorful and satisfying meal.
- Ingredients:
For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cups cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1/2 cup bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce (optional, for spice)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onions begin to soften.
- Add the cabbage and carrots (and bell pepper, if using) to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-6 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and chili garlic sauce (if using). Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to combine.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
