- Baked Apple Fritters
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup diced apples (about 1-2 apples)
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1-2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- Extra cinnamon sugar for sprinkling
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, applesauce, and melted butter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the fritters are lightly golden and cooked through.
- While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
- Once baked, remove the fritters from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle with glaze and sprinkle with extra cinnamon sugar before serving.
