This Better Than Anything Toffee is a mouthwatering, irresistible treat that combines the perfect blend of buttery, crunchy, and chocolaty goodness. The toffee layer crisps up beautifully, and the chocolate melts into a luscious, smooth finish, making each bite a delightful experience. The addition of chopped nuts adds crunch and flavor, while the sea salt brings a balance to the sweetness.

  1. Ingredients:
  • 1 sleeve (about 15) of graham crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Sea salt, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with aluminum foil and lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. Arrange the graham crackers in a single layer at the bottom of the prepared dish, breaking them as needed to fit.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the graham crackers, spreading it out with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the toffee is bubbly and the graham crackers have slightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee. Let the chocolate soften for 2-3 minutes, then spread it evenly over the surface.
  7. Sprinkle chopped nuts (if using) on top and finish with a light sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.
  8. Let the toffee cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up before cutting into squares.
