Brown Sugar Pineapple Wings are the perfect fusion of tropical sweetness and bold savory flavor. Oven-baked for crispy perfection, then tossed in a glossy, garlicky pineapple-brown sugar glaze, these wings are finger-licking magic. The tang from the pineapple pairs beautifully with the rich caramelized brown sugar, creating a sauce that clings to every bite.
Whether you’re hosting game day, prepping for a backyard cookout, or just craving something with a tropical twist, these wings deliver. Add red pepper flakes for heat, or keep them sweet and mellow—either way, they’ll disappear fast.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken wings (split at joints, tips removed)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or olive)
For the Sauce:
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
- Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Pat chicken wings dry, then toss with salt, pepper, and oil. Arrange on rack in a single layer.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- While wings bake, combine pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened, 1–2 minutes.
- Toss baked wings in sauce until coated. Return to oven for 5–7 minutes to caramelize, or broil for 2–3 minutes for extra stickiness.
- Serve warm, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
