These Cheesy Onion Crisps are a crispy, golden delight that combine the sweet, caramelised flavour of onions with the rich creaminess of cheddar cheese. They’re baked to perfection, giving you all the satisfying crunch of a fried snack, but without the grease!

  1. Ingredients:
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, grated cheddar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and milk together until smooth.
  4. Dip each onion ring into the egg mixture, then coat with the cheese and breadcrumb mixture, pressing down gently to ensure the coating sticks.
  5. Place the coated onion rings on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the crispy, cheesy goodness!
