Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 large egg, scrambled
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Add sugar, salt, butter, and scrambled egg. Beat with a dough hook until well blended.
  2. Gradually add 3 1/2 to 4 cups of flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. The dough should not be sticky.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured board and knead several times until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
  5. Punch down the dough and turn it onto a floured board.
  6. Shape the dough into 12 rolls and place them on a greased 13×9 inch baking tray. Let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with butter or equivalent.
