Whether you’re hosting a get-together or just craving a cheesy treat, these mozzarella bites are sure to hit the spot. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them as they are for a delightful taste experience.
Ingredients:
- 10 oz mozzarella string cheese (or 10 sticks)
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Cayenne pepper (optional)
Directions:
- Cut the string cheese sticks into bite-size pieces on a cutting board.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk and whisk again.
- Prepare two additional bowls, one with flour and the other with bread crumbs. Arrange them in a line: flour, egg mixture, bread crumbs.
- Coat each cheese piece first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the bread crumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F. Test with a wooden spoon handle for readiness.
- Fry 5-7 cheese bites at a time for about 30 seconds, ensuring they don’t stick together.
- Remove the bites with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat with remaining cheese and serve immediately with pasta sauce or solo.
