  1. Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the Bundt pan)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the sour cream and milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar (optional) before serving.
