This Fresh Apple Bundt Cake is the ultimate fall treat. The sweet and spiced cake is filled with juicy apple chunks and topped with a smooth, sweet glaze. The combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and the natural sweetness of apples makes each bite pure comfort. The addition of walnuts adds a delightful crunch that contrasts perfectly with the soft, moist cake.
- Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the Bundt pan)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the sour cream and milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using).
- Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar (optional) before serving.
