Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup chopped maraschino cherries (drained and patted dry)
  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons cherry juice for extra flavor

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries. If desired, stir in cherry juice for extra cherry flavor.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Centers may look slightly soft.
  8. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
