Ingredients:

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

For the Filling & Layers:

  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (plus extra for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Whisk in flour to form a roux. Gradually whisk in milk and cream. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parsley.
  6. To assemble, spread a thin layer of Parmesan sauce in the bottom of the dish.
  7. Add 3 lasagna noodles, followed by 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, some chopped bacon, mozzarella, and Parmesan sauce.
  8. Repeat layers two more times, ending with sauce and extra mozzarella on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve.
