These Scalloped Potatoes are a rich, creamy, and indulgent side dish that perfectly complements any meal. With layers of tender potatoes, creamy sauce, and a golden, cheesy top, every bite is filled with comfort. The garlic flavor adds depth, while the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses melt together to create a rich and flavorful experience.
Ingredients:
- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the heavy cream, milk, salt, and pepper to the saucepan, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then remove from heat.
- Layer the sliced potatoes evenly in the prepared baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
- Repeat with another layer of potatoes, the remaining cream mixture, and the remaining cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Sprinkle with paprika for garnish, if desired. Serve warm.
