Ingredients:

  • 8 cabbage leaves
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, egg, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a portion of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll up the leaf to enclose the filling.
  4. Place the rolls seam side down in a baking dish.
  5. Pour tomato sauce and broth over the rolls.
  6. Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, until the meat is cooked and the cabbage is tender.
