This Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread is a perfect balance of sweetness and crunch, thanks to the rich flavor of toasted pecans. It’s moist, flavorful, and will fill your kitchen with the most inviting aroma while it bakes. The addition of buttermilk gives the bread a tender crumb, and the dusting of powdered sugar on top adds just the right amount of sweetness to finish it off.

  1. Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans and buttermilk until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch, if desired.
  10. Slice and serve this moist, nutty bread with your morning coffee or as a delicious afternoon snack.
