Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add the milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Using a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag with the tip cut off, pipe the batter into the hot oil in long strips (about 4-6 inches in length).
  6. Fry the sticks in batches, turning occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately for the best crispiness.
