This Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese combines the rich creaminess of melted cheese with a spicy kick from fresh and pickled jalapeños. The crispy, buttery sourdough bread provides the perfect crunch, while the gooey cheese inside makes every bite irresistible. It’s a simple yet flavorful twist on the classic grilled cheese that’s sure to impress.
- Ingredients:
- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2-3 jalapeños, sliced and seeds removed (for less heat, remove the seeds)
- 2 tablespoons pickled jalapeños (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly on one slice of sourdough bread.
- Add the sliced fresh jalapeños and pickled jalapeños (if using) on top of the cheese mixture.
- Place the second slice of bread on top and lightly butter the outside of both slices of bread.
- Place the sandwich in the preheated skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let it cool slightly before slicing.
