This Philly Cheese Steak Casserole brings all the flavors of the iconic Philly cheesesteak into one convenient, comforting dish. The tender beef, sautéed peppers and onions, and gooey melted cheese come together beautifully with the golden, crispy bread topping.
- Ingredients:
- 500g lean beef, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 6 slices of sandwich bread, cubed
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and beef broth, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In a greased casserole dish, layer the cubed bread at the bottom, followed by the cooked beef and vegetable mixture.
- Top with shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese, then bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
